The cardboard is submerged in molten purple wax, which is mostly translucent. You can see the florescent studio lights reflected in the liquid wax. You can also see small areas where a skin is being formed as the surface wax begins to cure. Also visible is the temporary mold which contains the wax. The mold is made with scrap cardboard and masking tape
